Google is showing number of interactions on social media posts...
Check the screenshot. I posted on Facebook about the importance of backlinks vs onpage seo two days ago.
I note two things...
- The post indexed by itself, and after indexation, Google is showing how many people interacted with this post..
- The url to the post is search friendly with keywords. This only happen if Google indexes them without help....
In this case, it shows +100 interactions, the actual number of comments now is at 266..
What does this tell me? It tells me that interaction is a signal to Google. I suspect its even a ranking factor for social media posts..
The current Google algorithm is giving social media posts an unfair positive treatment. Just look at my screenshot. Facebook, Linkedin and Quora..
You can use this to leverage your audience.
Posting engaging stuff in your social media, while ensuring that the first line of your post is equal to the keyword you want to rank for, seems to be the way to go with social media...
